Keynote Speaker: Laticia Herkshan

Dr. Laticia Herkshan is an enrolled citizen of the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes and a descendant of the Modoc, Tohono O’odham, and Eastern Shoshone Tribes. She currently works at the Chief Tahgee Elementary Academy as the Shoshoni Language and Culture Program Coordinator. Previously, she served as the Tribal Engagement, Research and Education Specialist for the ISU ICREWS program and as a co-lead for the 6Rs workshop series. Her educational background is in Political Science, Public Administration, and Anthropology. Her background and work is centered in privileging, elevating, advocating for, and sharing knowledge on Tribal Sovereignty as it relates to issues of land and water policy and ranging to education and research ethics. Much of her work is toward balancing Western education/academics and Native ways of knowing and being. Outside of work, Laticia loves spending time with her kids, family, and friends; being outside; traveling; playing sports; and learning and practicing her cultural ways.
